Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for the kind invitation from your Officers and yourself, to attend the Naval Ball on June 28th.
We would have been delighted to be with you, but unfortunately we shall be at Skegness on that date, and as we have two shows in the evening, it will not be possible to reach you. We are really very disappointed indeed, as nothing would have given us greater pleasure than to have attended this auspiciuous occasion.
Please give our kindest regards to the Officers, and the Ship's Company of H.M.S. Mull of Kintyre, and covey our deepest regrets that we are unable to accept their kind invitation.
    With Very Best Wishes,
                Yours Sincerely,
